These same elements and patterns are in us, dancing their cosmic dance, each year and cycle. From our 'connectedness' to these, springs intuition. ~ ~ LAST decade, intellectually expanding Uranus was in its home sign and strength of Aquarius, the new frontier was mind, computer, and meditation. We are still feeling these effects. ~ ~ ~ MYSTICAL Neptune enters it's home and strength, Pisces, in 2011, 2012. A 'return' is when a planet, sun or moon returns to the zodiac sign it was in at the moment of your birth. >>X<<   Most people don't realize it, but astrology is a language! One which can speak to us everyday! To say "the moon is in Cancer tonight, in the ninth house" imparts a message to us for that evening, if we understand the language .   Every morning, at the horizon of each day, the sun rises within the zodiac band of stars around the earth, which is called the twelve astrology "signs". This one feature alone, of this highly organized spiritual map, can give us a message for every day. Like all circles, this zodiac circle is 360 degrees, giving to each astrology sign, thirty degrees.   When the sun rises each day, a degree of a zodiac sign rises with it. And as the sun moves across the sky, that degree moves with it. By time the next morning, however, the sun rises in the next degree. And now that degree (and sign) moves across the sky all day with the sun. And by morning again, the sun has moved another degree deeper into that sign, reaching the next degree.   The moon and all the planets move around us in this same way! Because the planets don't actually move around the earth, they sometimes appear to move backwards! These were ominous omens to the ancients, but we've learned to take them in stride, especially as we now know they don't actually move backwards! It still can be quite useful to know when some of these planets (appear to) go backwards!   This zodiac band, like a gauzy cosmic curtain, turns around us one full turn (or so it appears) each and every day. And attached within this gauzy curtain, are the sun, moon and planets. And they all move with it.   As we know, the sun takes thirty days to move through one zodiac sign, the moon takes two and a half days, but pluto's transit through a sign, takes twenty plus years! The rest of the planets (and sun) fit between these two time spans.   Or, we can look at it from another angle, which is to think of it this way: Picture the zodiac circle (or pie) as a round clock face. Only this particular clock face, makes one complete (clockwise) turn, once, every twenty-four hours. It also is more like a compass, in that instead of beginning each day at the number twelve, the zenith of the circle, or at north upon the compass, the day begins at the number nine, which is EAST on the compass. (And don't forget! It's aLso the HORIZON on planet Earth.) The day, of course begins at sunrise, at the horizon, which is the "home" of Aries, the 1st degree, and thus the "home" position of the 2nd degree of Aries is one degree below the horizon. When I was born, the fifth degree of Aries was at the horizon, therefore it is said that I have Aries rising, which is another way of saying Aries was at the horizon when I was born, and my "rising sign" (or "ascendant") is Aries.   Behind this clock face is another clock face! But lucky for us, this one is stationary. It never moves! This clock face, of course, is the twelve "houses" of the zodiac. And they start at the number nine, too, but the numbers run backward! Nine is twelve, ten is eleven, twelve is ten, and so on, until you get to one, which is below the horizon of the compass. (Aries' "home" is "house" one.) Aries is always the leader of the zodiac parade.   Hang on! we're almost there! You're almost an astrologer! We could suffice it to say that all this dizzying movement is a cosmic timepiece and map. But I haven't completed the picture! We have to mention those (ten) hands of the clock, the sun, moon and planets, for they move counter clockwise around the clock face. And each one moves at its own speed, from thirty days, the moon, to two hundred and forty eight years, Pluto. (Which is still a planet, by the way!)
